In Step UP!, Topics are Explored Through Carefully Designed Scenarios

People who have the deepest sense of true belonging are people who also have the courage to stand alone when called to do that—they’re willing to maintain their integrity and risk disconnection in order to stand up for what they believe in.

Have you ever been concerned about a situation and wanted to help… but didn’t?

Don’t be a passive bystander anymore!

The topics in this section highlight situations where people may feel concern, uncertainty, or hesitation about whether—and how—to step up. Rather than teaching comprehensive content on each issue, these pages center on the bystander experience and represent common contexts in which harm, risk, or injustice can occur—and where bystander intervention can make a meaningful difference.

Step UP! Topics

Each topic page includes a topic overview, what bystanders might notice, challenges and considerations, how training builds intervention skills, and supportive resources.

Within Step UP! trainings, topics are explored through carefully designed scenarios that help participants apply the Framework to realistic, varied situations. These scenarios create facilitated learning opportunities to examine decision-making, perspective-taking, and intervention options in practice.

Anyone who participates in a Train the Trainer will be provided with a customized, interactive 8-topic spin wheel that you can use immediately in your trainings.
